Burial Information : buried in the old burying ground in Rockingham, Vermont;
his epitaph reads, “He settled in the town at the early age of it - he was
honored with many offices of trust – in town and state – with zeal and fidelity
he employed his talents in building up the civil and religious society in town –
in aiding and promoting the cause of liberty in the revolution of our country –
and in organizing and building up the state – and through a long course in
public business was generally accepted as a man of talents and integrity.
Military Service : Civil service in the
Revolutionary War; Patriot. He was
a representative from Rockingham to the Vermont state legislature in 1778,
1779, 1780, 1781, 1782, 1783, during almost the whole period of the war,
serving on several committees. It
has been suggested that Colonel Ethan Allen frequented his home during the
Revolution.

Notes : He lived in the vicinity
of Piermont New Hampshire in 1776, 1777.
He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War; served as Private Soldier and
Captain; received a pension 4 March 1831. In the 19th, 21st and 22nd Sessions of U. S. Congress he
pretitioned for compensation for providing supplies and for arrears of pay. He was issued receipts, as recorded in
the Commissary Accounts, for supplying provisions to the military in August,
September, October & November 1781 at Corinth, Fort Wait. He is buried in a cemetery ‘near
railroad station’ in Guildhall, Vermont.
