Originally settled just across the Vermillion river west of the David Underhill place.

In 1822 David Webb and his son Harvey purchased from the Executors of Jonas Cook two hundred acres approximately three miles north-west of Norwalk, Huron County, Ohio in Ridgefield Township, which formed the nucleus of the Webb Settlement.  Harvey paid $250 dollars for one hundred acres on the north side and David was left with 109 acres.  They both built log houses; Harvey’s burned in 1854.  In 1823, Harvey and family moved into a frame house on the Morse place.
