144th Regiment Ohio Infantry and discharged 31 August 1864 at Camp Chase,
Ohio. Notes : Nathan Webb is the son of
David Webb, Jr. and Elizabeth Geisler (married 5 September 1830). David Webb, Jr. is the son of David Webb, Sr. and the younger brother of
Oliver Webb.

Soldier Nathaniel Webb :
Nathaniel was a soldier in the Revolutionary War when he was taken as a
prisoner of war and confined to the prison-ship ‘Old Jersey’, where he died
January 1781. He was born 3 September
1750, in Windham, Windham County, Connecticut to Samuel Webb and Deborah
Davison; his brother was Corporal Joel Webb, who fought at Bunker Hill.
Private Nathaniel Webb : He
was born 18 July 1745 at Methuen, Massachusetts. He served from Massachusetts in the Revolutionary War. Nathaniel died 13 October 1831 at Danvers,
Massachusetts.
Captain Nathaniel Webb (Jr.)
: He commanded a company in the Revolutionary War in the Fourth Connecticut
Regiment, Commanded by Colonel John Durkee.
Nathaniel was born 5 August 1737 in Windham, Windham County,
Connecticut, the youngest child of Nathaniel Webb (Sr.) and Elizabeth
Fitch. He was well educated, attended
Yale College and was graduated in 1757.
On 15 May 1767 he was married to Zerviah Abbe, daughter of Joshua Abbe,
in Windham. They had six children
(Henry b. 2 Sept 1768, Mary b. 23 Sept 1770, Ann b. 5 Nov 1772, Lucretia b. 8
May 1775, George Washington b.6 Aug 1779, & Charles Lee b.8 Oct 1781). He died 25 January 1814, aged 77 years, in
Windham.
Webb, Nathaniel (Conn). 1st Lieutenant 20th Continental Infantry, 1st
January, 1776; Regimental Adjutant, 7th September to 31st December 1776;
Captain 4th Connecticut, 1st January, 1777; retired 1st January, 1781. (Died
25th January, 1814.)
First service seems to be as Adjutant, from Windham, originally known
as General Putnam’s Regiment of 1775, reorganized for Continental service in
1776 as the 20th Regiment Continental Infantry. Colonel John Durkee of Norwich was appointed to Command. The regiment was engaged at the Battle of
Trenton 23 December 1776. Alternately
listed as retired by consolidation on 1 June 1781. Also served as Adjutant in Colonel John Douglass’ Regiment
(Connecticut) in 1776. ‘...he was at the
Siege of Boston...’

: He served as Corporal in Captain Charles Smith’s Company, 9th Regiment
Connecticut Militia, marched 10 November 1776, discharged 24 December 1776;
commanded by General Wooster; marched to the ‘Saw Pits’.
Captain Nathaniel Seymour Webb,
Brevet Major & Quarter Master General : Born in Connecticut, served as
Captain of Company (?), 9th Regiment United States Infantry (regulars). Brevet-Major, 13 September 1847 for ‘gallant
and meritorious conduct’ in the Battle at Chapultepec, Mexico. Born in
Connecticut, died in Connecticut. Commissioned Captain of Infantry, 16 March 1847; appointed to 9th Regiment
U. S. Infantry, 9 April 1847; honorable mustered out 26 August 1848; appointed
Captain of 10th Infantry 3 March 1855; resigned 20 July 1856.

mustered in to Company C, 42nd Regiment Georgia Infantry (Confederate States of
America). He was listed as absent ‘left sick’ on 17 October 1862 in Kentucky.

enlisted, while a resident of Walton County, Georgia, on 16 September 1861 and
mustered in to Company G, 35th Regiment Georgia Infantry (Confederate States of
America). He was absent without leave
on 28 February 1865.
Captain Newton L. Webb : He
was commissioned and enlisted with the rank of Captain on 31 May 1861. He mustered in to Company I, 26th Regiment
Pennsylvania Infantry (volunteers) and resigned his commission on 15 January

Private Nimrod A. Webb :
Nimrod, aged 31 years, enlisted 1 August 1861 and mustered in to Company A, 1st
Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, USA. He was wounded in action at the Battle of Stones River, Tennessee on 31
December 1862, of which injuries he died 11 January 1863 at Murfreesboro,
Tennessee. His widow, Sophia C. Webb,
applied for and received a pension, 7 September 1863 (widow32461/29799).
