Hannah Scott Webb
Full name : Hannah Scott Webb
Alternate spellings, aliases :
Parents :
Father : Benjamin Scott
Supposed Mother : Margaret Stevenson
(?)
Probable Mother : Hannah (remarried
to John Harbour)
note : Margaret Scott is the same woman executed at Salem in 1692 for
‘witchcraft. Hannah (nee unknown) is
more likely the true mother of Hannah Scott Webb, because Chrsitopher Webb, in
a document for the settlement of her estate after her death on 1677, refers to
her as his mother-in-law. No reference
is made to Margaret in connection with the Webbs, although there were two
Benjamin Scotts at the time in Massachusetts, one of Braintree and one of
Cambridge. The Benjamin from Braintree
married Hannah, the Benjamin from Cambridge married Margaret Stevenson and they
have often been confused.
